About Us

Indigo Research was founded in 2017 by veteran data scientists with a simple conviction: the Philippines shouldn’t just adopt AI—we should build it, own it, and grow the people who can sustain it. Our mission is twofold: create proudly Filipino AI products and services, and uplift local talent into world-class AI professionals and leaders.

That mission first showed up in what we chose to build. In 2018, we developed Graphene, a multilingual AI focused on Filipino languages—because impact starts with technology that understands our context. We explored robotics and autonomy to push technical capability forward, while running university workshops and talks to share knowledge early and expand the local bench of builders. In 2019, we applied AI to real operational needs—cybersecurity and social intelligence—while also bringing computer vision into barangay health centers and hospitals to support frontline healthcare through practical, accessible tools.

As demand for trustworthy AI grew, we focused on helping organizations adopt it responsibly and sustainably. In 2020, we expanded our consulting work and developed data science governance products to make AI scalable, accountable, and repeatable—not one-off demos. In 2021, we supported intelligence efforts during the presidential election cycle, reinforcing the same principle: AI should strengthen decision-making where stakes are highest.

Talent-building has remained core, not secondary. In 2022, we launched AI Academy PH, the country’s first AI scholarship program designed to take career shifters and students from zero-to-one and into real AI roles. In 2023, we continued building products and delivering consulting while joining the pioneering batch of Quezon City’s StartupQC program—further anchoring our work in the local ecosystem we aim to strengthen.

 

Across every chapter, the thread is consistent: build technology that fits the Philippines, and build the people who will take it further.
