We started with the languages no one else would build for.
Founded in Quezon City in 2017. The Philippines has over 170 languages, so building AI that worked here meant starting from scratch. That constraint became our foundation.
Our history
Started with a language problem.
In 2017, we set out to build AI that actually worked in the Philippines, built from scratch for over 170 Philippine languages rather than bent out of Western models.
Our first products were multilingual chatbots and social listening platforms, deployed across enterprise, healthcare, and government. We build systems users can sustain on their own.
Over nine years that expanded into geospatial intelligence, predictive analytics, edge AI, and operational platforms for defense and national security. The aim is the same as the start: institutions equipped to carry the work forward.
2017
Founded
Indigo Research established in Quezon City. First focus: multilingual natural language processing for Philippine languages.
2018
First deployments
Chatbot and social listening platforms deployed across enterprise clients — GCash, Globe, and Philippine healthcare institutions.
2019
Graphene
Launched Graphene — the first NLP model trained natively on Filipino, Cebuano, Ilocano, and eleven other regional languages.
2021
AI Academy
Launched the Indigo AI Academy to train Philippine practitioners, analysts, and public sector staff in applied AI — 500+ graduates to date.
2022
Geospatial & analytics
Expanded into geospatial intelligence, predictive risk modeling, and maritime domain awareness systems for government partners.
2024
Defense & national security
Operational intelligence platforms and edge AI systems deployed in support of Philippine national security and defense missions.

Indigo AI Academy
Building the people, alongside the technology.
AI capability is only sovereign if the people operating it understand it. Since 2021, the Indigo AI Academy has run workshops, bootcamps, and embedded training programs for enterprise analysts, government staff, researchers, and developers across the Philippines.
Curriculum spans applied machine learning, natural language processing, geospatial analytics, responsible AI governance, and system operations. Programs are designed for working professionals — no academic prerequisites required.
The goal is a Philippines where AI expertise is grown and held here.

We are a Philippine company, not a branch office or a nearshore vendor. Our research, engineering, and operations are headquartered in Quezon City. The problems we solve are the ones our country faces: multilingual communication, maritime domain awareness, governance at scale in a fragmented archipelago.
